Pack saddle and panniers wanted - handtoolrevolution - 03-07-2024 First post. But, i am not much of a computer person these days-off the grid and all. anyway looking for a pack saddle and a set of panniers if possible? I am in Pennsylvania and will honestly be putting them on ram sheep. already working with my herd sire and his son with a soft pack and weight, doing well and leads great. open to any suggestions! will be acquiring a dairy goat this year though don't worry. would also be interested on "specs" to make my own out of wood as well. Thanks -Lloyd Locust RE: Pack saddle and panniers wanted - Nanno - 03-07-2024 Welcome! It looks like some packs are for sale in another post here: https://www.packgoatcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=5634 It's a lot of stuff but a very good price for all that equipment. I am also selling a like-new (used maybe once) Sopris Lumbar pack with panniers, rain fly, and several extras for $500. However, this is probably more than what you need to start out with. The Lumbar pack is for serious packing on big, strong, full-sized goats (or llamas, burros, or ponies). Here's the info for that saddle: https://www.packgoatcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=5337 Good luck! I just figured if anyone was on the eastern seaboard it'd make cost and shipping easier. Nice pack. my lead ram is a big dude. so that pack would work Right now though i am making my own saddle with y'd branches for hauling water and stuff sacks as panniers. a fun plastic free project that costs nothing at the moment. a sheep's wool, till i shear of course, sort of holds the packs in place. RE: Pack saddle and panniers wanted - Nanno - 03-17-2024 Good luck! I've heard rams can be pretty mean if handled too much, but maybe that was just if they were bottle raised. I'm not sure. I don't know much about sheep except that they are pretty different from goats in their personalities and that they shouldn't have as much copper in their diets. |
