Pig, my largest was bred to be a packer. He is Alpine, Sanaan and Boar. I haven't weighed him lately but pretty sure he is over 300 pounds. I got him as a bottle feeder. Bonding is much more effective than training.
I have a couple that I got as adults (since have lost one), and one I always had to outsmart until Pig took over the heard. The last thing you want on your elk hunt is to have to chase goats all over the mountain.
Buddy up with a guy who has a few and just enjoys getting out. He'd be happy to tend camp and the goats while you hunt.
