Pueblo County Fair Packgoat Class 2017
#2
Tigerlily was a lot of fun to work with this year. She started out skittish with some of the obstacles, but I spent a little time introducing her to all of them before handing her over to the kids. They continued working with her and by the time we were finished she was doing all of them like a champ.

For those who are interested in building their own course, obstacles included in this year's event:

1. Weave through four cones at a trot.

2. Drag a sled around a marker and back. Goats with saddles could have the sled hooked to the crossbucks. Goats without saddles would have the sled dragged behind them by the handler.

3. Get your goat to stand two or four feet on a stump.

4. Drop your goat's lead, pick up his left front foot, and brush it off with a hoof brush. If the goat is being very good, do all four feet.

5. Walk the goat through a narrow gap between two sawhorses without bumping them.

6. Walk the goat through a "campsite" consisting of folding chairs and buckets booby-trapped with grain, chaffhaye, and animal crackers.

7. Walk the goat over a plank covered with a tarp.

8. Jump the goat over diagonal poles. More point if he jumps the high end.

9. Walk the goat under a low diagonal pole. More points if he ducks under the low end.

10. Walk the goat over the paddle pool. He may use the log in the middle as a stepping-stone to avoid getting his feet wet.

11. Send the goat into the horse trailer. The handler stays out of the trailer.

12. Load the goat into the truck bed. He may either jump or use the ramp. The handler stays on the ground.
