I don't know if it is a requirement but I always get a CVI. That way I know I'm covered. DO make sure the breeder has permanently ID'd the kids and get documentation for the identification. If it's a microchip have them use the reader so you can verify the microchip number reads and has the correct number. If it's a tattoo look at it to verify it. The identification and documentation are extremely important for a multitude of reasons including following the NAPgA BMP's.
