Thanks Nanno. I decided to go with your suggestion. I spoke to the owner today and was able to get a 5 in neon orange ordered. Will go out and be on its way Tuesday. Although I really like the look and low impact of the rope halters, with as little as I get to use Legion, I opted for something more substantial. He is not going to be happy learning it but with the digression in Legions attitude being penned with a submissive goat and the lack of time I can put into proper training, I want as much strength as possible. Lincoln leaves around the 20th to his new home (going to miss him cause he is such a sweet boy) and that will give me about 2 months to put some order back in Legions life. That and with just him, we can go back to fishing and having fun just the two of us.
Now, as I cant find the exact lead rope I want (other then having one custom made for 25.00) Ill just buy a black one locale. Tough to find a hunter orange lead that isnt nylon.

Maybe someone can do a seminar on how to make these rope halters at the rendy?

Actually, if Legion is having attitude problems, a rope halter might not be a bad idea. Those thin ropes have a LOT more "bite" than the wider nylon ones. That's one reason I try to avoid them except for with horses that have developed a nasty attitude. I've known a few too many youngsters that have become chronic pullers because they were hurt by being tied with a rope halter before learning to give to pressure. But for bratty horses that pull back out of rebellion rather than ignorance, the thinner rope halters can work a charm. Once an animal is well-behaved, I try to go to a wider halter so that they don't feel pain in an accidental hang-up.
Still, a nylon halter is versatile enough that you can achieve the same "bite" by adding a chain over the noseband. For a goat you could probably use a dog choke collar. It's hard for an ornery critter to ignore you if you've got that much "oomph" when you jerk the rope. Never tie up by the chain, of course. He could easily injure himself if he pulls back and starts to struggle.

he isnt a brat towards me or people, just other goaties. So I am looking for control over training. He is smart and learns fast but he is big enough that if we do have any issues, I want to be able to keep him in check. I doing more forward thinking then anything. That and when he gets in trouble he turns into a big sulking baby. His feelings are easily hurt hehe

I got Legions halter the other day and really like. The construction is very good and its smaller then I thought. So I think it will work out very well. Oh and it fits him and has lots of room to grow. Thanks again Nanno!!!

Ooh... orange! Spiffy! You said, "It's smaller than I thought and it has lots of room to grow"... now there's a statement that makes sense.
I like to put a short catch rope on the bottom ring to make it easy to grab a goat if it's charging past, or to hold them still for a minute if I need to. It's especially nice to have a catch rope on Cuzco because he has this annoying habit of standing squarely in the middle of the road when a car comes along and I often have to fetch him over to the side. He thinks he can charge a toll I guess.

I know I cleared this up in the chat but thought I would do so again here for anyone who reads it. Smaller I meant the width of the nylon. Its like 5/8 wide. Room to grow as it fits Legion on the second or third hold so lots of room to grow.

Hey Dave,
The above link is for llama halters. Did you order a llama or goat halter #5? I don't see the orange being offered. Only black and brown. I am impressed with your picture. Looks awesome!
