I'm looking to replace 2 goats killed by a Mnt. lion last month.
I would like 2-3 babies ( My 3 year old twin grand daughters want to bottle feed, I'm not as excited about it!)
or older packers.
I have 3 goats left, but 2 of them are getting older, I guess I am too
PM me if you can help, I can pick them up within a couple hundred miles, form Cortez,Co
Thanks!

I'm so sorry about your goats! Were you or the DOW able to take care of the mountain lion?
This isn't a bottle kid or a full-grown packer, but it's all I know about that's for sale in Colorado right now.

We'll have babies available this summer, but we don't sell bottle kids. We dam-raise ours and sell them at three months old, but we spend a lot of time bonding to make sure they're friendly.

Steal the lion's cubs and force them to carry your packs. Seems fitting.

I don't drink beer, but if I did, I'd prefer Dos Equis. Stay thirsty my friends!

Found a grown packgoat on Craigslist. He's pretty far from you but it looks like he's cheap.

Thanks for the reply, yes DOW was able to trap the offender, 150 lb. male, I guess that's why he could jump a 7' fence.
When would the babies be available this summer? and where are you?

I'm glad they got the lion. Some goats up the road from me were killed by a lion a few years ago, and some others were killed by a bear. One of ours got killed by a coyote and another one almost killed. We ended up getting livestock guardian dogs and we haven't seen another predator come near here since.
We've got four does due between April and June, so we should have babies ready to go in July and August. All of our boys remain horned. If someone wants theirs disbudded they would need to send me a 1/2 down deposit within the first few days so I can get it done.
All our babies this year will be Alpine/Nubian crosses. They are out of pure Alpine does bred by pure Nubian bucks.

thank you all for the replies!
I'm still trying to sort all this out.
Nanno,
I had a really great Nubian cross packer and he was 230 lbs. and really wiling, except one time, but we all have those stories!
I've been kinda doing my own thing goat packing for the last 15 years, and I don't get to the computer but every few days, I'll hopefully know the right goats when they show them selves .
But thank you for the all for the responses !

Our first packgoat was an Alpine/Nubian cross named Cuzco. He was amazing on the trail and I always felt like that goat would rather die than quit. He was a great water crosser too, and he showed some of our younger boys how it's done before he passed last year at 15 years old. Cuzco is the reason we're experimenting with Alpine/Nubian crosses. So far I've liked most of our results, and we keep slowly upgrading our does and bucks as time goes on and finances allow. I'll be posting photos of our kids in this thread as they're born:

Have you looked into that little buckling in Paonia that I linked to earlier? He's closer to you than I am! I'm all the way over in Rye, so opposite end of the state. He looks nice and sounds quite friendly.

Have you found any goats yet? I have a buckling and located in Paonia, CO. Could meet part way. He is one week old. We've been doing a combination of dam raising and bottle feeding. He is very friendly.
