Free Pack Doe....

I have a three year old Oberhasli doe that really needs a new home.  I bred her last year as a two year old and found she carried a serious genetic defect (Atresia Ani to be exact, her buckling had it).  I pulled her out of my breeding program and found a home for her...  Unfortunately, that fell through this spring.  She is a very sweet doe (follows me like a puppy dog).  I have had her since she was four days old and was my bottle baby.  She can't be bred because of being a carrier, and I have to make sure she won't taint the Ober lines.  I need to find someone I can trust for her.  She needs to be in a place with NO buck contact, as she is a non-breeder.  I would hate to have to put her down.  She is free....

I feel bad for your situation and the doe.
Question: Would she be OK to keep with a couple wethers like mine?
If we could figure a way to get her to SC, I am interested.
Is what she has "Contagious"  or just a genetic defect?
Tell me more about the problem?
If she is as sweet and trained as my boy's she could have a home here in the east.

She would be fine with wethers.  

It is not contagious, but a genetic defect (like hemophilia).  Atresia Ani is a defect where there is no rectal opening and little to no colon.  Her buckling last year manifested the defect.  Her dam also threw a kid with the same defect.  I worked with the breeder to end the line.  

Her name is Mini.  Her mother's name was Cooper and so she was registered, Minicooper.  She has lived up to her name, being rather small in stature.  However she is quite a solid little gal.   I estimate she is close to 130#s.  Mini has a nice straight and strong topline and excellent feet. 

She is horned, but her horns tip back more like a helmet.  I keep a mixed herd of those who have horns and those who don't.  She is middle to top of the pecking order.  

I have not trained her to pack, but like I said, she was a bottle baby and loves to follow and be with you.

She is tested CAE/CL negative and I keep a closed herd.  I don't show and biosecurity is stringent on our farm.

We keep a grass/browse fed farm.  No grain here.

How funny that we have a few matching goats. I also have a 3 year old non breeder. But in my case she just never comes into heat. But like yours she is so sweet. Not just to people but to other goaties. We call her sweetcheeks. So much so that today her pen mate who had 2 kids on her went home to her owners and that left her all along. Although we coulda moved her in with the milkers, we decided to move her into the yearling pen. Even at 3 and much larger, she just fit right in with them : Good luck finding her a great home!
